His parents, from Madrid and Cordoba, Spain, gave Castillo an upbringing in which the Spanish and French had equal importance in his development as a student. Although the singing and the interpretation would come from his parents, his mother being one of the first singers of the National Ballet, and his grandfather a renowned interpreter of the guitar, Chico knew since childhood that his future was marked by music. At 9 years, singing and his guitar were inseparable companions, which led him to successfully share everything will happen with you which achieved positions of importance in Spain in the 80's. With a musical education in school, and with the guidance of his parents, Chico continued his career based on solid principles, and as a young man went to the Paris Opera where he was praised for his talent.
"With them I learned a lot. They are the masters of this art, the art that I love, the one that has led me to see a fantasy world. A world in which each day I continue to discover new fusions for flamenco. By integrating with the Kings, Chico fused flamenco with the rhythms of the joyous rumba flamenco; this mixture soon became a musical phenomenon which crossed borders. But, went he recorded with Alabina he reached his audience and sold million of albums. In 1994 this single sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. Alabina became the subject of several films, with which millions of viewers in France and Spain, had the opportunity to experience the phenomenon of gipsy music. "I think the Kings are the greatest exponents of this movement. Without their contributions, this music would not be what it is. They also were an elemental part in my development. Now I'm the precursor of this sound that calls its elements of origin. It requires that the music changes, but I realize that the original sound is being picked up and the merge is well received. "
